CANDIDATES for this month’s Frome North by-election for Somerset County Council have been announced.
The election, to fill Liberal Democrat cllr Sam Phripp’s seat on the county council, will be held on Thursday 25th September.
The candidates are: Adrian Dobinson (Independent), Catherine Richardson (Labour Party), Damon John Hooton (Liberal Democrats), Les Spalding (Green Party), and Linda Oliver (The Conservative Party).
Sam Phripp was elected to Somerset County Council in May last year, but resigned after saying “I can’t continue in a position where I’m being blocked at every turn and at some points even intimidated and bullied by others. I still care about local people and about our area, but I can’t and won’t put myself through that any longer.”
His allegations of intimidation were described as “unsubstantiated” by the leader of Somerset County Council, John Osman.
Registration for voting by post closes at 5.00pm on Wednesday 10th September.
