There is a huge misconception amongst some of the population that Open Studios events are reserved solely for amateur or hobby artists.
Frome Open Studios is striving to dispel this dreadful rumour by holding their first ever exhibition of work specially selected from some of the best of the Frome Open Studios entrants of 2015.
Kindly hosted by Divas Café in Black Swan Arts, the artists exhibiting have been selected by a panel of representatives of Frome Open Studios and Black Swan Arts from submissions made by entrants in the 2015 event.
Frome Open Studios asked that all submissions were 40 x 50 cm and priced at £200 or under to encourage people to buy. This is a big ask as many artists prefer to work to their own specifications and as all the work is original or limited one would normally expect to pay a much higher price.
However, in response to the current financial situation they felt that by setting a top price people who might not normally think to buy unique work would be encouraged to do so thus introducing them to the joy of owning something totally individual.
They are keen to stress that the exhibition represents only a small sample of some of the very professional work exhibited in this popular summer event and hope that this taster will encourage even more people to visit in 2016.
The exhibition is now open and continues until 6th January 2016.
Another date for your diaries will be the Call to Artists from the Frome Open Studios which will open from 1st January until 6th March 2016. To keep in touch with Frome Open Studios developments do visit their website at www.fromeopenstudios.co.uk or follow them on Facebook and Twitter.
