A team member at a Frome optician has knitted more than 250 hats for those experiencing homelessness locally.
Specsavers in Westway Centre is celebrating the efforts of Lynn Beagles, the store’s call centre manager, who marks the second year dedicating her time and skills to raising awareness and providing practical support for those in need.
“I love knitting and wanted to use it to help people,” says Lynn. “Last year I made 65 hats, so wanted to aim for more this year. I think it’s really important that we all do what we can for those who need it, and this is my way of doing that. I am looking for wool donations from anyone that could spare a ball or two to help with this great cause, so if you can, please drop any donations off at the store.”
The hats, handmade by Lynn, are being distributed by Julian House hostel in Bath, ensuring they reach those who need them most during the colder months.
Store director at Specsavers Frome, Richard Goring, said, “Myself and the rest of the team are inspired by Lynn’s dedication. Her passion for giving back embodies the spirit of care and compassion that we strive for at Specsavers Frome.”
Julian House is a charity that supports vulnerable and at-risk individuals. These include adults and young people experiencing homelessness, escaping domestic abuse, adults with learning difficulties and people who need support after leaving prison.
