The Frome Potato Day and Seed Swap will be held on Sunday 25th February from 10am until 2pm, at the Cheese and Grain.
With everything the keen gardener or allotmenteer needs, the event is the best way to get your gardening year off to a good start!
This year there will be an incredible edible twist, with local delights from Frome Country Market and Frome Food Assembly, and a cooking demo from Lungi Babas.
It’s a family-friendly event, with children’s activities throughout the day. There will also be the community-run Seed Swap, so get your spare seeds and brown envelopes out!
And don’t forget the workshops and activities. This year you will be able to learn about the following:-
‘Using Medicines from your Garden’ with herbalist Em Tivey, who has nearly 20 years’ experience and study in traditional Western herbalism.
‘Growing and Propagating Medicinal Plants’ with permaculturist, Pavla Kislerova.
Film: Seeds of Justice, In the hands of farmers.
‘Growing Salads in a Polytunnel’ with cllr Shane Collins, leader of the Green Party group on Mendip District Council.
Also, throughout the day, visitors can learn about making willow bird feeders and bug hotels.
Caroline Wajsblum, on behalf of Incredible Edible Frome said, “Of course we will have the huge range of seed potatoes from Pennard Plants, this year also including several good quality blight resistant varieties (if you want large quantities, you can order them in advance) and hundreds of different types of seed.
“As well as heritage varieties, we’ll have organically and locally-grown seeds, many unusual and fun varieties. You can also expect to find onion and garlic sets, fruit trees, bushes and canes, and rhubarb crowns.
“We’ll also have some excellent local suppliers of spring bulbs, fragrant and bee-friendly plants, to fill the garden with colour and beauty this year!
“So don’t be a couch potato… come and join us for a day of family fun!
