Two community organisations in Frome have forged an official partnership with Frome Town Football Club and Frome FM establishing a formal link.
Frome Town FC and Frome FM will be sharing different ideas which, in time, will include match commentary from Frome away games and joint promotion of each others brand.
Dave Watkins, a director of the not for profit community radio station Frome FM was delighted to be able to complete talks with the towns leading Club saying: “The football club has come on in huge strides over the last few years and especially their work in the local community which grows year on year and with Frome FM also heavily involved in the town as a community organisation it seemed logical to bring the two together. We hope that this is just the start of what promises to be a really good partnership and that we can continue to grow together which will benefit the town as a whole.”
Talks will continue regarding the provision of match commentary for Robins games whilst in the mean time the stations flag ship sports show ‘Monday Night Kick Off’ will take on the mantel of highlighting the Club with one of the presenters Billy Wright excited to take on the task: “We have been talking to Frome Town for a while and looking at ways we can help each other and our MNKO show is a great vehicle in order to start that ball rolling – we have a growing audience both listening to our show as well as on social media so anything we can do to help push the Robins into as many homes as possible is our aim.”
Club Secretary of, FA Charter Standard Community Club Frome Town, Ian Pearce was equally as pleased with the new partnership: “Frome FM has grown massively over the last few years and is providing an excellent service to the town and hopefully we can help spread the word about the station and the MNKO show where we have already had several guests appear over the last season. It’s great for the town to have local organisations working together like this as we all want the same thing, just in different areas, and that’s to help improve Frome as a town.”
Frome FM broadcasts on 96.6 FM with the option to also listen in live online while the Monday Night Kick Off show hosted by Steven Jenkins, Shaun Lewis, Wayne Cornish and Billy Wright air fortnightly at 8pm.
