Frome Rugby FC is excited to confirm the appointments of Dominic Jones and Elliott Bowler to the roles of player/unit coach for the upcoming 2018/19 season.
The club states, “Dominic has represented Frome RFC at both Junior and Senior levels, and has extremely close ties to the town. He brings with him enormous talent and experience, and the club is thrilled to welcome him back.
“This will be Elliott’s third spell with Frome RFC and his passion, experience and ambition will be invaluable to the club as it builds on recent progress and strives for success. The club is thrilled that Elliott has chosen Frome for his next challenge and we wish him well in his new post. Further new appointments were announced in the off season, with John Benstead taking on the new role as club and 1st XV captain.
“The experienced player had an impressive season last year as starting 1st XV scrum half and being awarded the Players’ Player of the Year award at the annual awards dinner.”
Frome RFC director of rugby, Cameron Hastie said, “John has been a real leader for us and I’m sure he’ll be no different this season. We are looking to build on last year and he can be at the forefront of that throughout the campaign. I would like to thank the all three captains for the enduring commitment and look forward to their inspirational leadership and success for the forthcoming season.”
John Benstead said, “It’s a real honour for me to be appointed as club captain for the 2018/19 season. This coming season will be an exciting one for us, as i believe with the growing squad of players we have and additions joining the coaching staff, we have the ability to compete for the top spot in the league and build on last season development.”
There were also the naming of both Dean Marshall and Richard James as 2nd XV and 3rd XV captains respectively, with Mark Regler overseeing the Frome RFC’s Veterans XV (Frome RFC Calvary).
The club has been busy during preseason with fantastic numbers training on both Tuesdays and Thursdays – with the domestic season looming Frome will be preparing with multiple warm up fixtures, including a club fixture away to Avonvale RFC on Aug 11th, 1st XV fixtures at home on Aug 18th to Frampton Cotterell RFC and on Sept 1st the 1st XV will play Tor RFC away whilst the 2nd XV will play at home welcoming Castle Cary RFC.
There has also been some exciting news off the field, with Frome RFC being able to unveil The Old Bath Arms, Frome, as their new main club sponsor for the upcoming 2018/2019 season.
Announcing the new partnership, Frome RFC director of rugby, Cameron Hastie said, “It’s a tremendous vote of confidence that such a fantastic local business such as The Old Bath Arms wishes to make such a significant investment in the future of this club.
“We are working hard to create a club that the people of the town are proud to support and brands want to do business with, so having enjoyed building a great relationship with Richard, Kim and The Old Bath Arms team, we look forward to continuing that growing relationship together in the coming years.”
Richard Findlay, owner of The Old Bath Arms said, “After a very successful 2017 partnership with Frome RFC we are thrilled to announce that The Old Bath Arms Restaurant & Pub will be on board as the club’s main sponsor of Frome RFC for the upcoming 2018/2019 season. This year, we are contributing to much-needed improvements that are going to benefit the rugby club and its players massively.
