FROME RFC’s director of rugby Garrie Webster says that 2022 has seen more sign-ups to the club’s youth section as well as seeing the return of the Frome RFC Academy.
Frome RFC director of rugby Garrie Webster said, “It’s been a mixed first half of the 2022-23 season. The season got off to a slow start for everyone with the summer heatwave causing pitch conditions to postpone some fixtures.
“Our numbers in the youth section have increased again this year which is fantastic to see that we are doing our bit in growing the game in the community. I have had the pleasure of seeing some great rugby by all of the age groups so far.
“We have seen the return of the Frome RFC Academy side which is fantastic to see. This squad of young players are amongst the ages most affected by the Covid pandemic, with some of them not seeing any rugby at all for two seasons.
“The standard of rugby they are putting out gets better week after week and it’s testament to their hard work at training and the new coaching team of Kyle Stickley, Andy Vince and Lex Stickley.
“The seniors have had a very tough start to the season with lots of injuries throughout the playing squad and a mixed bag of results. The mood in the playing and coaching squad remains upbeat and we are all looking forward to attacking the second half of the season this year.
“I’d just like to wish all Frome RFC members and their families a happy new year from me and my family!”
