the new president of Frome Rotary Club for the 2015/16 year is Patrick Cusworth.
Patrick, who has been a member of the club for five years, took over from Jerry Lewis earlier this month.
He taught at Frome College for 27 years. Patrick said, “I’m honoured to have been elected president of the club, and am excited about taking on the role.
“This will be a big year for Frome Rotary as we celebrate our 90th anniversary in 2016, and I feel very privileged to be president of one of the oldest, largest and most innovative clubs in the district. I’m also somewhat daunted by the task ahead!
“I joined the Rotary Club after getting to know the members when my neighbour invited me to social functions. I didn’t feel I could dedicate the time while I was still working, but took the leap when I retired.
“I enjoy the range of different things on offer at the club, as well as the friendship, camaraderie, humour and mutual disrespect.
“It’s also an honour to be able to help deserving causes at home and abroad. My chosen charities will be the British Heart Foundation, and Young People Frome – as a retired teacher I still have a strong feeling for supporting young people in the town.”
Frome Rotary Club, which started in 1925, has 55 members and meets regularly. The club raises money for the local community and champions local causes.
