THE Clock Change Challenge 10k in Calne was the final race in the 2017 Wiltshire Road Race League and saw Katherine Uphill of Frome Running Club finish as the league’s highest individual scorer.
The Wiltshire Road Race League, sponsored by Newsquest Media Group, is an annual series of races for all runners from clubs affiliated to Wiltshire Athletic Association, with the goal of promoting road running within the county and raising the profile of Wiltshire clubs and athletes.
From the first event in Highworth back in March and this final event held in Calne, Katherine managed to finish as the top scoring female individual runner with a total of 798 points, 50 points clear of second place.
Katherine said, “I’m really pleased. I started the season in March and won the first race, I definitely did not set out to win the series, but i’m so happy I have.
“I used to run as a junior and had a long break to have my children, so this was my first year back as a senior runner.
“I’ve never done the league before and i’ve met some amazing runners from lots of different clubs and made some great friends.”
Katherine will receive her individual trophy during the Wiltshire Athletics Awards evening to be held early in the new year.
