RUNNERS from Frome put their best foot forward as they ran the Bath Half Marathon to help raise £5,000 for Wessex MS Therapy Centre.
Tori Allison, Eddie Young and Terry Pinto completed the 13.1 mile course for the charity who will spend the money on new equipment.
Eddie Young, who completed the course in 2hrs 9mins said, “It was a fantastic race. The Bath crowd were incredible. I was swept along by a wave of good natured cheering and encouragement.
“I ran for the Wessex MS Therapy Centre because they are a local charity, who do a lot of good work which is largely unseen, helping people to live as normal lives as they can. They also have a very persistent community fundraiser!”
Terry Pinto finished the Bath Half in 2hrs and 13mins. He said, “I love running and the Bath Half is great fun.
“I ran because I know the people who work at the charity and I wanted to support them and of course raise money for a good cause.”
Tori Allison completed the Bath Half Marathon in a time of 2hrs 18mins. She said, “It seemed bigger and better than before with more supporters on the course which was very encouraging, especially in the last three miles.
“As the charity’s community fundraiser, it’s my job to encourage people to run for the charity, so therefore I feel it’s my duty to run the race every year!
“If anyone wants to run for the centre in the 2016 race, please contact me at the Wessex MS Therapy Centre as we have already have reserved 15 places.”
The Wessex MS Therapy Centre offers long term ongoing therapies for people with multiple sclerosis and offers emotional and social support to families and carers.
There are two hyperbaric tanks offering oxygen therapy to many people with medical conditions to include those with cancer, fibromyalgia, ME, sports injuries, leg ulcers and multiple sclerosis. There is a fully equipped physiotherapy gym and the centre also offers massage therapy, reflexology, kinesiology, and counselling.
The money raised at the Bath Half (£5,000 +) is going towards running costs which enables the centre to offer life enhancing therapies on a long term and ongoing basis. Many of the members live in Frome and travel to Warminster on a regular basis because it is the only MS therapy centre in the area.
