Frome runner ‘races the train’ in annual 10k run
Race the Train takes place alongside, as far as practicable, the route taken by the Talyllyn Railway on its journey to Abergynolwyn and back. In order to do this, all courses use a mixture of public roads, lanes, un-metalled roads, tracks, agricultural land, and rough grazing pastures.
Ellie Burford, who took part in the race said, “I’m so chuffed, I beat the train second time around. It beat me by 21 seconds in 2019. Today I ran it in 52.31 minutes, the train finishes in 55 minutes. So pleased! A really fun but really tough trail 10k if anyone fancies it next year! Race the Train in Twywn.”
Ellie was the seventh woman and third in her age group.

Everyone completed the course and were met with a glass of fizz at the end to celebrate their achievement. A spokesperson said, “Well done to everyone involved.”
