AT the recent meeting of Frome Selwood Rotary Club, it was announced that Andrew Walsh-Waring will take over as Club President for the next 12 months.
Andrew is a financial adviser and has been for 32 years, in various guises, both here in the UK and offshore in the CI, IOM and across Europe.
He is married to Caroline who, he said, “Not only manages me, our children Inigo, 16 and Phoebe, 13 but is also a pillar of the art community here in Frome and further afield.
“We have lived in Frome since 2008, although I can claim that I have been here before as I was educated at Downside and well remember trips to Frome either to be taken out from School to lunch, or in my later years for less salubrious purposes!”
Since moving to Frome and joining Frome Selwood Rotary Club, Andrew has been involved in many local activities, for example as the finance Governor at St John’s First School as well as being involved as possible with all of the events and projects that Frome Selwood Rotary Club organises, manages or takes part in.
Most recently he participated, as for many years, in Rotary Kids Out at Longleat, which is always a most rewarding day for all concerned.
He also fancies himself as a chef and was persuaded, in a moment of weakness, to be one of the chefs at the club’s recent sell out World Cuisine Evening; being one of four of the club who prepared a tasting menu for the “lucky” people who were quick enough to secure tickets.
Andrew said, “A great evening was had and it raised nearly £1,800 for charity.”
Andrew continued, “I’m delighted to be serving the next year as president. I have always found that you get out of something only what you put in. However with Rotary a little always seems to go a very long way.
“I am proud to have been asked to be President for the next Rotary year of a club that not only fulfils its aims in supporting our community here in Frome, but punches well above its weight across the district and also supports national and international service projects. We have a steady flow of new members joining but can always welcome more.”
