‘SHARE’ – a library of things, will be opening in Frome at the end of April, and hopes to provide a low-cost alternative to buying high-quality items.
The shop, on the bridge in Frome, will provide a space where people can borrow objects and share skills in a fun, social setting. It is a partnership between Edventure, Sustainable Frome and the Frome Town Council, and is being set up by eight young people, as part of Edventure’s apprenticeship scheme.
‘Share’ expects to stock a large variety of items for borrowing, including DIY tools, gardening equipment, leisure items, musical instruments and cooking utensils, giving the community access to what they need as well as the chance to browse items before deciding what they want. Regular workshops will also take place, where people can learn new skills in a comfortable and social setting.
Anna Francis from Frome Town Council said,“Our aim is to get people sharing more. So much is spent on buying tools, children’s toys etc when we only need them for a short while at a time. We hope the shop will be an effective resource for the town, allowing locals to spend less, waste less and connect more.”
Organisers would love to hear from anybody who would like to volunteer, donate items or be kept in the loop. Please email may@edventurefrome.org
