Frome Stars overturned Delta Red in a hard fought victory to leave them on the verge of promotion to the Premier League.
Stars started strongly and Janie Bullus and Hannah Dredge in the shooting circle contested for everything. At the defence end the same applied to Lucy Perry and Kathy Dredge who competed for everything and never let the Delta shooters settle.
Quarter time saw Stars in front by 10 goals to 7 and they increased this lead by half time to 6 goals with constant pressure on Delta. Half time score 18 12. Tireless work from the centre court of Jo Knight, Sophie Cox and Kate Smith saw Stars pick up numerous turnovers and turn this possession into shooting opportunities.
With Delta rattled and a massive supporting contingent from Frome to cheer them on, the third quarter saw Stars maintain their 6 goal lead by 27 goals to 21. The last quarter, with Stars playing possession netball, they ran out worthy winners.
This was a fantastic result for Stars overturning their previous loss to Delta and all the team could have been awarded the Player of the Match award but in the end it went to Perry for another great athletic defensive display while the Player’s player award went to Smith who grows more confident as the season has progressed.
Thanks to Sheri for reserving and for everyone who turned up to cheer Stars on, it was much appreciated.
Previously, Stars had beaten Melksham Robins 48- 19.
