Back on track for Stars, sponsored by Dennis Maps, with a comfortable win against a newly-promoted Fitz team.
The team report, “Knowing that after last week that our first quarter had to be our best, the team didn’t disappoint. With tips and interceptions from defensive combination of Kathy Dredge and Emily Chapman, the Fitz shooters were rattled. Emma Guy supported the team mid-court with her magical feeds into the circle.
“Staying strong into the second quarter, Kathy took control in defence, giving support and direction to her team mates, and with immaculate pressure from Sheri Pleasants, our defence was on fire. Opposite ends of the court also proved unstoppable. Georgia Cox and Hannah Dredge formed a tight bond and shots were flying in.
“The third quarter saw a change in defence with Molly White and Alice Millard coming on to mix things up. There was tight marking and consistent communication from Kathy, and defensive pressure remained a threat. This applied for our attacking combinations too; gaining a three second held ball from their shooters numerous times, showing how well these players were as a unit.
“Last quarter and the team were fully back to enjoying the game. With Kathy continuing her success in the defensive circle, we were able to make turnovers and sink the goals. Captain Sophie Cox made an impact mid court with numerous tips and intercepts, and perfect feeds between fellow pocket rocket, Amelia Pratten, meant we kept our flow.
“Player of the Match was Sophie Cox, whilst Players’ Player and Captain’s Pick went to Kathy Dredge.”
