A Christmas production by Emma Rice Company is returning to the stage this December, following a sold-out run at its Frome home last year.
A Child’s Christmas in Wales will play at the Ustinov Studio at Theatre Royal Bath from 9th to 24th December.
The show follows last year’s run at The Lucky Chance in Frome, the company’s home since 2022, which sold out within days.
The Bath production offers an opportunity for those who missed out on tickets or want to experience the show again to see Dylan Thomas’ much-loved poem brought to life through music, puppetry, and inventive storytelling.
Emma Rice said, “We cannot wait to bring our magical show to Bath this Christmas. And oh! A Child’s Christmas in Wales will nestle beautifully in the Ustinov! Sat invitingly between the spectacular of the Main House and the family fun of The Egg, this breathtaking production offers something a little different – a warm, funny, and heartfelt escape from all that Christmas noise. This precious and surprising show is brimful of music, memories, storytelling and timeless humanity. A festive gift indeed.”
The production has received praise from critics, including, “Exquisite Dylan Thomas adaptation has magic in every scene…full of love, music and moments to remember” (The Guardian) and “a magical jewellery box of a show” (Stage Talk magazine).
Theatre Royal Bath and Emma Rice Company have also launched The Director’s Cut, a three-year collaboration which has included revivals of Malory Towers and Tristan & Yseult in 2026, with further productions to be announced.
Tickets are available at emmaricecompany.co.uk.
