THE Frome Third Age - a social group for the over 50 – welcomed new and existing members to its September meeting.
A spokesperson for the club reports, “Frome Third Age met for the first time since March 2020 on Friday 10th September at the Memorial Hall. There was a great turnout of members, and 15 new people joined.
“We had a most interesting talk given by Bel Deering, manager of West Hatch RSPCA Rescue Centre. She told us about their day-to-day work, their staff and the very valuable input from volunteers. They care for a great variety of wildlife most of which are released back into the wild.
“They also look after domestic animals in need of care due to cruelty or neglect, and these they mostly manage to find homes for. Bel was happy to answer the many questions from the audience.
“The interest group coordinators then introduced themselves and gave the times and days of their monthly meetings, reminding old members and informing new ones of all the interesting activities on offer. We then enjoyed tea and biscuits and people were delighted to be back together, to meet old friends and to make new ones.
“Our next meeting is on Friday 8th October at 2pm at the Memorial Hall. Our speaker will be Brett Davies whose topic will be ‘The Samaritan Organisation’. We welcome new members, just come along on the day and give us a try.”
