FROME Times readers have helped to raise over £1,200 for Dorothy House Hospice Care via our family messages column.
The money, totalling £1,211.76, has been collected during 2021 from donations made by readers of Frome Times and our sister papers, White Horse News in Westbury and Melksham News.
Readers are invited to make a charity donation when they run a message in our Family Messages column, with all the money going to charity. £201.76 has been raised for the charity thanks to cash donations and £1,010 has been raised via online donations made through our JustGiving pages for each newspaper.
Accepting the cheque on behalf of Dorothy House, community and events fundraiser Verity Clark said, “We cannot thank our community enough for the kind donations we receive from their dedications, and very humbled during this difficult time for everyone. All of your donations pay for invaluable care for our patients, their families and carers. From everyone at Dorothy House, we wish you a happy and healthy 2022!”
Frome Times editor Ian Drew said, “Thank you to all our readers who have contributed to this fantastic amount. It is a pleasure to support Dorothy House who do such important work in the community.”
Dorothy House provides compassionate care and support for people with a life-limiting illness. “Our focus is on quality of life, helping patients to live well and die well,” says the charity. “At Dorothy House, we provide exceptional personalised care to people in our community who are approaching death. That means we’ve got you: we’re here for our patients and their loved ones, as much or as little as they need us.
“Our standard of care reaches deep into our community, helps people prepare for the end of their lives and equips more people to provide the care each of us deserves.”
