A unqiue initiative, the first of its kind in the UK, is being launched later this month, giving residents the opportunity to contribute their stories, experiences, hopes and dreams about Frome, in a new project titled ‘One Day in the Life of Frome.’
The Community Wisdom Project, run by community champion and writer, Brian Snellgrove, aims to capture the essence of life in Frome today by creating a document that reflects the town’s collective spirit. This will serve as a valuable historical record, offering future generations a glimpse into the social and cultural fabric of the town in September 2024.
As part of the project, residents are invited to attend a talk at Rook Lane Chapel on Wednesday 25th September, to learn about the vital role conversation plays in building strong communities and contribute their personal experiences of life in Frome.
“We will explore how technology and our fast-paced lives have impacted the way we interact,” says Brian. “We will delve into the importance of conversation in fostering empathy, building strong relationship and creating a sense of belonging in Frome.
“I will share practical tips for having more meaningful conversations. Learn how to actively listen, ask insightful questions and offer genuine support to those around you.”
Brian has a strong background in community building. He founded London Village, a successful social group for newcomers in the capital. He also created ‘Europeople,’ a platform connecting language enthusiasts for practice and cultural exchange.
“My dedication to understanding the human experience extends to his online resources on Covid-19 and 5G and even keeping a detailed diary chronicling daily life, inspired by the famous Samuel Pepys,” says Brian.
Tickets cost £6 and can be purchased via the website www.art-of-conversation.net
