FROME Town manager, Danny Greaves, says his players are match-fit and ready to challenge for the title this season!
Town narrowly missed out on promotion following a defeat in the play-offs last season, after losing just four games across the entire season. Danny says that although the boys were bitterly disappointed, they are now more determined than ever to push the club to success.
“Our one goal this year is promotion – it’s as simple as that,” he told Frome Times. “We can’t go through what we did last year, and I genuinely think the squad here can do even better than we managed last year. The quality of the teams below us has improved, with loads of clubs making impressive signings, but we have improved too.
“Our new signings have taken to our style of play well and they’ve gelled with the boys quickly which is great to see. We can’t afford to be off our game at any point throughout the season though, and we need to make sure we hit the ground running.”
Four signings
Town have made four signings so far, with the addition of midfielder Jamie Adams and striker Luke Hopper, both from Yate Town, the return of full back Ben Withey to the club following spells at Swindon Supermarine and Paulton Rovers, and the return of goalkeeper Kyle Phillips.
“All we ask is that the amazing support that we’ve been shown throughout last season continues,” added Danny. “It would really help add to the pressure for clubs visiting us and add to the atmosphere. We’re trying to get the word out more that the football is a good day out for the family as well, so that everyone feels welcome.”
