FROME town councillor Adam Boyden is to take on the town’s 10k event to raise money for two different charities.
He will be raising money for the Rotary Club of Frome and Mercy in Action as he takes on the 10k distance for the first time since 1988.
The event takes place on Sunday 20th July as cllr Boyden will join hundreds of other runners on the start lime as part of the third Frome Half Marathon/ 10k/ 5k/ 1k event.
He said, “I did the 5k last year and raised about £200 for Carers UK (and their East Somerset group) and Frome Rotary Club. This year I am stepping up to 10k. My aim is to do under an hour – plus to beat a certain David Warburton! It’s certainly a great event and a good reason to get, or keep fit.
“The Rotary Club of Frome work hard to raise funds for many charities and good causes locally, and are one of the event’s official charities, supporting the new Frome Activities and Sports Trust this year. Mercy In Action works with street children and the poorest of the poor in the Philippines, and their dream is to see an end to children living in squalor and hopelessness on the streets.”
