MIKE and Angie Bishop, along with their committee, are holding their 7th Town Crier Festival on Saturday 15th June at the Frome Victoria Park.
Mike said that their competition is now becoming one of the best supported by their fellow criers in the country, as this year they will be hosting 23 criers from as far away as Cornwall to West Sussex and Oxford to Carmarthenshire. This year there are two criers coming to Frome for their very first time.
As well as the competition there will be the usual fete running with a variety of stalls, including a barbecue and cake stall run by the committee; face painting, tombolas and many other craft stalls, along with childrens rides and a bouncy slide.
Mike has said that there are still a few pitches left, so if there is anybody that would like to come along and run a stall, please contact him on 07970 000773 or 01373 455234; the cost is only £5 per pitch.
The weekend will start as normal, when all those criers that stay with host families that Mike and his committee are indebted too, visit the local Masons Arms for a meal, where Paul and Vanessa always make them so welcome. On the Saturday evening they all once again become guests of the Frome Cricket Club, where along with many locals, enjoy an informal fun packed evening, before on the Sunday going along to Calne where they all enter a competition there.
Mike and Angie have already started repeating last year’s successful year, by winning the best dressed couple award at the Yeovil competition back in April.
