FROME Town Football Club is delighted to announce an exciting partnership with the 3rd Battalion of The Yorkshire Regiment (based in Warminster).
The Battalion, which has over 500 soldiers predominantly from Yorkshire, already has close links with both Barnsley and Leeds United and is set to stay in the local area indefinitely.
Captain Nick Wilson from the Battalion is delighted to link up with the Robins. He said, “We are really happy and excited to be a part of such a community orientated club, and the battalion has a long history connected with football. We hope that by working together we can forge a close relationship. Back in 2011 our own football team was the first to win both the army and the infantry cups in the same season, which was the first time anybody had achieved that in 130 years of the Army FA history. We haven’t competed since then, but will be making a return this season.”
The partnership will see the Robins using the excellent facilities in Warminster for their training during the season while also helping the Battalion with coaching, community work, tickets to matches and the use of the AlderSmith Stadium.
