FROME Town are through to the next round of the BigFreeBet.com Challenge Cup due to Taunton Town FC being unable to raise a side for their meeting on Wednesday 10th January.
Frome Town were left devastated after preparations were made in order to face the Taunton side with hours of practice on the pitch, programmes produced, staff and catering booked, only to be let down on the day of the match.
Taunton Town FC said, on their Twitter page, “It’s unfortunate that we had to pull out of tonight but completely unavoidable. We have numerous first team players either ill, injured or working away. In addition, many of the development players that we used in previous rounds aren’t available due to similar issues.
“I refuse to put out a side lacking in numbers which could make the game a farce and subsequently risk the fitness of our few remaining first team players in more important games to come”
Frome Town are now automatically through to the next round of the BFBC Cup due to the walkover.
