2022 has seen Frome Town United FC (FTUFC) grow from strength to strength with more members signing up to all sections of the club.
Lee Seviour, chair and co-founder of the club says, “2022 has seen continued growth in our club, with lots of children opting to play football at FTUFC over the last year. The committee express our sincere thanks to Dan Ashby for leading this.
“Our Wildcats section is unbelievable, so many girls joining and having lots of fun. We are so proud of our head of girls’ football, Ben Bolland who has been instrumental in developing this. Our girls’ section continues to prosper and our U11, U13, U15 have all been excellent this year. A big thank you to the dedicated coaches for giving up their time to support them.
“Our boys’ section is thriving, with success over the last year and much to look forward to going forward. It is our coaches who we must thank as they give up their time to support our players. Our club incredibly has 34 teams and over 650 players.
“Whilst 2022 has been a fantastic year for our club, it does also bring sadness with the loss of one of our founders, Nigel Daymond. Nigel was instrumental in setting up FTUFC and his enthusiasm for offering children the opportunity to play the game we all love cannot be underestimated. We have some plans that we will announce in January which will honour Nigel and the legacy he has created.
“Behind the scenes, hours of work are put in by a few people to enable football to be played at a weekend. These include Rich Gould who lives at our ground making sure our teams can play at a weekend; Chris Wilkinson who spends hours sorting fixtures, dealing with leagues and the FA and much more; and our head of football development, Ben Starr, who is at Selwood School most evenings guiding coaches and players. All our committee and coaches are volunteers and without them our club couldn’t function, so again a huge thank you!
“2023 will be another exciting year for our club; we have big plans and ideas, but we need more volunteers, please come forward if you can offer up some time and help build our club.”
