The triathlon season has commenced with early entries for a sprint event in the New Forest.
Karen John of Frome Triathlon Club said, “Daniel Crocker, one of the youngest members of Frome Tri Club, with me one of the oldest, took part in the Southampton Fast Twitch Triathlon.
“Daniel had a very strong race, PB for the course with 4 minutes off his previous time, 3rd in his category and 16th out of 194 competitors with a time of 1:04.01. It was great to watch and cheer him on.”
Karen achieved her best time for a triathlon yet with nearly 20 mins off other events from last year. Daniel was flying with a smooth race, Karen’s trip wasn’t plain sailing, she had a rotten cold and encountered a group of ponies in the road at Beaulieu.
Karen continued, “Other club members have been busy with cycling sportives, undertaking some huge distances. Drew Cunliffe finished Paris-Roubaix in a great time. Chrissy Penny undertook the postponed Bath Duathlon. This was a first time event for her and a great result.
“The summer training is about to be announced by our professional coaching team. For updates check out the website. Frome triclub.co.uk You can also enter our Frome Triathlon there, don’t forget the early bird discounted entry is only until end of April.”
