Frome travelled to Exeter for their first match of the season. They knew they faced a tough opposition and with some key players missing from the line-up and only one sub, the game would test their fitness.
At the end of the second quarter the score was 10-4 to Exeter, but the third quarter proved decisive as Exeter used their subs bench to full effect, scoring 7 to Frome’s 1.
Frome rallied for the final quarter, winning it 3-2, but it wasn’t enough to impact Exeter’s strong position, with the final score 19-8 to the home side.
Frome played with great discipline, only suffering 4 exclusions to Exeter’s 8. Their top goal scorer was Brad Poole with 4, including one from half-way to the bottom left-hand corner of the net, which caught the Exeter goalie off-guard. Charlie Hinder added 3 and Paul Vowell 1.
New team member, Henry Hall, showed good skills around the pool on his debut, Andy Perry was solid in goal and Fraser Thomson, Matt Hann and Kieran Hanney did their best to disrupt Exeter’s game plan.
