Frome 1st XI win by 121 runs.
Frome 1st XI 186-7 (45 overs).
North Perrott 1st XI 65 all out (24.1 overs)
FROME were asked to bat by the visitors and made a solid start before opener Sanger was dismissed by Pattemore with the score on 26; however fellow opener Croker went on the attack hitting numerous boundaries putting North Perrott under pressure.
Croker was finally dismissed for 37 which led a batting collapse as Frome lost three wickets for 0 runs and North Perrott had fought their way into a strong position.
But Ross Jenkins and Dan Dredge batted patiently to make sure Perrott didn’t run through the rest of the batting line up.
Both batters were going along nicely and looked solid before Dredge was unfortunately run out backing up at the non strikers end for 16. Joe Smart joined Jenkins at the crease and again built a patient partnership to get Frome back into a reasonable position. Both batters left it to the last few overs to go on the attack with both hitting big sixes.
Jenkins was eventually dismissed for an important 59 in a superb 60 run partnership with Smart. Smart was eventually caught trying to launch an attack at the end of the innings for 31, getting Frome up to 186-7 off their 45 overs.
In reply, Frome made an early breakthrough with Watts bowling Salaman; however a couple of dropped catches meant Perrott moved to 31-1. Once Frome got the second though, North Perrotts batting line up collapsed with little fight. Arthur Harman went through the middle order with an excellent spell of bowling taking 4 wickets and was well backed up by Will Jenkins who also picked up 4 wickets.
Eventually the away side were bowled out for just 65 as Frome produced their best bowling performance of the season at a time they needed it most.
Next week Frome will travel to Ilminster looking to build on this performance.
Next fixture: Saturday 10th July, Ilminster 1st XI (home), 12.30pm start.
