FROME Window Wanderland returns to the streets of Frome this weekend and the new organisers, Katie, Susie and Tori, say they are delighted to be bringing this unique, community event back.
From Friday 1st to Monday 4th March from 5.30pm to 10pm, residents of Frome will be lighting up displays in their windows for others to wander around and enjoy.
“It’s so exciting the event is finally here,” says Katie. “We have nearly 200 windows signed up which is just amazing, we’re so pleased. You can see which houses, schools and businesses are lighting up their windows by picking up one of our maps from Black Swan Arts, Frome Town Hall or Discover Frome at the library.
“You can also go to www.windowwanderland.com/event/frome-2024 to look at the online map. Get ready to come on a magical evening walk where all kinds of delights are being created to brighten the winter night.”
In further exciting news, Black Swan Arts will be running an exhibition all about Frome Window Wanderland throughout most of March.
Organiser Susie explains, “We’re excited to announce that we will be running a Frome Window Wanderland exhibition from the 8th to 30th March in The Round Tower at Black Swan Arts and we would like to invite everyone to take part.
“If you have a good quality photo of a window you have created from any Frome Window Wanderland event (2018 – 2024) you can be featured. Please contact fromewindowwanderland@gmail.com by the 1st of March to confirm your place. You will then need to print your photo and mount it, and if printing and mounting a photo will have a cost implication that you cannot afford, please get in touch. We want this exhibition to be accessible to absolutely everyone.”
Workshops have been taking place over the last couple of weeks, helping to get participants started and to realise their ideas.
Organiser Tori says, “The workshops have been fantastic and we’ve seen all kind of wonderful ideas starting to take shape – from cute kids’ displays of animals and Lego to jaw dropping artistic creations. The event is really going to be great, I can’t wait to see it all.
“It’s also so nice to see areas of the town where whole neighbourhoods have joined in together – such as Nunney Road, Lewis Crescent, Rodden Road and Windsor Crescent and I’m excited to see all the displays by our wonderful independent businesses in the centre of town. So tell your friends to save the date, wrap up warm, and join us for this year’s magical Window Wanderland.”
