COLLECTORS were out in force at the Frome Christmas Markets, on Sunday 2nd December, raising money for the Frome Big Christmas Get-together.
Organiser, Charlie Thomas said, “The total raised was an amazing £690! Every single penny raised will go towards giving Frome residents who live on their own, are elderly or are on low income, a fantastic Christmas Day to remember at the Cheese and Grain.
“Guests are invited to take part in a fantastic Christmas, making new friends and enjoying a full traditional Christmas lunch, complete with gifts and entertainment. As a recipient of an Aster grant, this event has already gained the support of a number of local businesses and organisations, including Frome Wholefoods, Milk Street Brewery and the LIST Frome.
“Run solely by volunteers, they will work together to ensure everything is covered, from venue decorating, food preparation and cooking, to transport for guests, meeting and greeting and washing up.
“2011 was the first time we ran the event and it was such a success that we couldn’t wait to get started organising this year’s Christmas party! Everyone deserves a great Christmas, so this event is for those Frome residents who need a helping hand. Frome’s Big Christmas Get-together brings people together to create a really special day, for both guests and volunteers.”
