The community came together to discuss a range of ways that Frome can meet its climate change targets during Frome Town Council’s recent Climate Change Panels.
Ideas ranged from; community-owned solar and wind to walking buses, to ‘fit bits for carbon,’ to safer cycle routes, to a children’s shoe library, to local food growing and shared delivery points.
Councillor Lizzie Boyle said, ‘It was great to hear so many good ideas and such enthusiasm for getting these done. The benefits of taking action are huge – cleaner air, healthier lifestyles, easier to heat homes and local jobs.’
Anna Francis, the Town Council’s resilience officer will be collating the ideas from the panels and putting them into an action plan over the next few weeks. The first draft of the plan will be discussed at a council meeting on 22nd January.
The final part of the climate programme is on 5th December at 7pm at the Cheese and Grain where internationally-renowned environmentalist, Rob Hopkins, will be talking about the power of imagination to create a better world.
