Frome Netball Club hosted the first of many tournaments this season in their newly formed Junior Netball League at Oakfield Academy in Frome.
The club reports, “The league consists of teams from Frome, Westbury, Wessex, Spires and Holt competing in the u12s, u14s and u16s divisions.
“Frome Tigers who are competing in the u12s section, were playing together for the very first time in matches and did themselves proud. Though losing all their games, they were very closely fought, with a great team effort.
“Frome Wildcats, who are competing in the u14s section, have a well-gelled team who have been playing together for a while and are becoming very confident on court. They won 2 games and lost 1, which has given them a great start in the league this season.
“Frome Panthers are competing in the u16s section, and were missing some players but could still field a squad of 8 players who in the sunshine fought hard in the afternoon, playing some competitive netball. The Panthers won 1 game and lost 3.
“The day was a great success with excellent netball being shown across all clubs, who are competing to become league winners at the end of the season. Frome were able to raise a fabulous £177 to go towards fundraising kit for the u16s.”
