FROME’s Ukrainian community gathered for a vigil to mark the second anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, at Boyle Cross on Friday 23rd February, where the mood and the weather were sombre.
Welcome Hub Facilitator at Frome Town Council, Iryna Ladyzhenska said, “The Ukrainian community gathered near the fountain on the Boyle Cross to mark two sad anniversaries. 20th February 2024 is the 10th anniversary of the war in Ukraine, launched by the Russian Federation. 24th February is the second anniversary of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Unfortunately, the war is on and there is no sign of it being finished in the foreseeable future. Our country needs the support of the democratic countries in our fight against tyranny and aggression.”
