THE winners have been revealed for Frome Rotary’s Young Photographer competition and one local photographer has now been entered into the national finals.
Frome Rotary recently presented certificates and gift vouchers to the winners. With 49 entries into the competition, which was themed, ‘The Beauty of Architecture’, the judges say they were very impressed with the standard of compositions and found it very difficult to pick the winners.
Frome Rotary say, “In the senior section Zuben, from Frome College, won with a highly technical compilation of images forming a stunning overall effect. The intermediate winner was Amelie, also from Frome College, with a fantastically composed photograph capturing the light and mood to form a stunning image. Edison, from Oakfield Academy, won in the junior section with a well captured image of an architectural feature.”
All three winners were entered in the Rotary District competition, covering Somerset and parts of Dorset and Wiltshire, with Amelie coming out the winner in her category and is now entered in the national finals.
The certificates were presented by Emma Reynolds, principal of Frome College and Margaret Gilmour, past president of Frome Rotary.
Margaret Gilmour said, “After a long break from working with local schools due to the covid pandemic it is so pleasing to be able to support and encourage students to challenge themselves and develop their skills. The Young Photographer competition along with Young Chef and Youth Speaks has shown the talent in our schools is excellent. Good luck Amelie in the national finals.”
Emma Reynolds said, “The excellent range of all the photographs entered for this competition reflects the creativity and confidence of our students. Well done to all of them and to our winners.”
