Frome Ukulele Club had such a successful concert at Christmas that they have been able to donate £1,000 to the local charity, Time is Precious.
“The Christmas Parsnip” held at Rook Lane Chapel was played to a capacity audience, and with the help of local donations, the raffle helped swell the coffers.
Time is Precious makes a difference to sick children and their families’ lives whilst in hospital by helping to improve the environment. This can be anything from murals on the walls, to toys and colouring books for the children to play with.
Set up in memory of local youngster, Ben Halford, Time is Precious has contributed to major developments at the children’s ward and the booster therapy centre at the RUH in Bath, and the A&E paediatric waiting area and a play area in the children’s ward at Yeovil Hospital.
Leslie Coate accepted the cheque from the Frukes when she attended one of their weekly sessions at The Cornerhouse in Frome. “What an amazing bunch of people,” said Leslie. “We are so grateful for their generosity.”
Details may be found at www.timeisprecious.org while the Frukes continue their weekly mayhem on Thursday evenings at The Cornerhouse.
