FROME Festival organisers have said that they are planning for a full festival line-up later this year.
After having to postpone its 20th anniversary in 2020, Festival director, Martin Dimery, has said they will return with a full and ‘spectacular’ programme to mark the milestone, from July 2nd to 11th July.
Martin said, “We have to finalise our schedule in late February, so we will still be unsure as to what challenges Coronavirus might present, but we have learned a lot from last year.
“We now feel confident that, even if there are restrictions, some events should be able to run. So we have a full Festival programme already beginning to take shape, but a standby contingency that will allow safe-distanced outdoor events to run, including our ever-popular Hidden Gardens and also performances every night on the ECOS amphitheatre next to the Merlin Theatre. We are arranging for a canopy to be fitted over the stage to allow all kinds of events on ECOS to take place.
“If all goes well and we have no Covid restrictions, the programme promises to be spectacular. Some acts have been re-scheduled from last year and others added.
“The Cheese and Grain already has six major artists provisionally booked and we’ll be announcing the line up as soon as we can. We are also planning a Frome Festival exhibition at Rook Lane Arts, featuring an array of art and memorabilia from many of the wonderful past 20 years.”
Other popular events in Frome, including Frome Street Carnival and Multicultural Frome are also making plans to return later this year – and “hopeful” to make a return is Frome’s famous Cheese Show. Watch out for more details in upcoming issues of Frome Times.
