The Pod Youth Club are delighted to confirm they have secured funding for their second year, and would like to thank their local funders, the Frome Lions Club, Aster communities, FDCIC as well as Children in Need.
The Pod opened its doors in the autumn of 2013 and welcomes young people with additional needs and social communication difficulties, aged between 10 and 18 years.
The club has had a very successful year and has been well attended. Some of the activities on offer have included film nights, trips out, cookery, puppet making and swimming. The programme is put together by the young people. with support from the youth workers. and they also run their own tuck shop.
The club are also fortunate to have been chosen as one of the Mayor’s charities this year and appreciate being able to raise the profile of the club.
The Pod would now like to build up a bank of volunteers who could help with trips out and occasional sessions. Please contact the club if you would like more information about this opportunity.
The Pod runs on a Monday evening during term time from 6.00-8.00pm. Places are limited so if anyone would like to get in touch about a place for their young person or you offer their services as a volunteer, they should call Azeema on 07582 559591 or email thepodyouthclub@hotmail.co.uk.
