LOCAL young woman Phoebe Hughes is gearing up for a fundraising challenge to help her towards a volunteering project in Tanzania next year.
As part of International Citizen Service, Phoebe will be volunteering in Tanzania from February to May next year, with Raleigh International.
Raleigh is an organisation whose aim is to get more young people to voluntarily support small communities around the world. Phoebe will be volunteering in a small village or town in Tanzania, supporting and developing any community projects for the local people.
Phoebe said, “The work will vary, from running workshops about business skills, conservation, improving hygiene and sanitation and interacting with locals and their families. It is a worthy opportunity and I am very excited about what i’m going to experience”
As part of the process, Phoebe needs to fundraise a total of £1,500 which she has started, using methods such as social media, Just Giving pages and organising fundraising events such as quiz nights, bake offs and raffles.
Phoebe added, “If you could help support my fundraising by attending any of my events, buying raffle tickets or simply making a kind donation towards my funds, that would be great. For me, this is very important as i’d like to introduce my local community to what i am doing, and for them to be part of the project’s journey. I hope that with your support, you can be part of the journey too.”
