SPORTING talent in Frome is being sought to join the Fusion Sporting Academy scheme, designed to support talented athletes from across the UK, run by Fusion Lifestyle, the charity that operates the Frome Leisure Centre.
The scheme offers sporting talents access to a wide range of leisure centres and facilities for their training.
It is open to athletes competing or performing at a national or county level, in the top ten in their age group, in any sport recognised by Sport England. The initiative has been set up to help encourage local people to use local facilities to achieve their goals, recognising the demands, costs and dedication athletes need to succeed.
Fusion Sporting Academy already has over 100 members countrywide, including paralympic athlete, Dan Greaves, a champion discus thrower, who trains at Loughborough Leisure Centre, and rugby player Grace White who has just signed with Sale Sharks.
Head of sport and community development at Fusion Lifestyle, Gareth Heard said, “We know that our leisure centres are bursting with sporting talent and we want to help make sure that those with real promise have access to the facilities they need to make their dreams a reality. We can’t wait to meet more of the area’s talented athletes through our scheme.”
