FUTURE plans for the Old Showfield have been revealed, including improved paths and a community orchard.
At last week’s council Town Matters meeting, a plan for the Old Showfield, one of Frome’s largest green spaces, was shared with councillors and the public.
The next steps for the green space are:
To improve the path all the way round the site in preparation for Parkrun Frome.
More trees along the paths and at key spots on the landscape, including succession planting of oaks that date back to the Selwood Forest.
A community orchard near the play area – and lines of fruit trees dotted along the linking paths.
Improved signage on site, especially in the recently improved play area.
The possibility of more events.
At the meeting Chris Stringer, environment manager for the council said, “As requested by the public – we’ve put in five new bins, five new benches and planted lots of new trees.”
The plans are available to see online and on noticeboards on the site.
