AWARDS were handed out to the winners of Frome in Bloom 2016 last weekend in a ceremony at Selwood Academy.
Valerie Norvall from the Frome in Bloom committee said, “The quality of the entries this year was again exceptional in all the classes.
“The categories cover just about every aspect of gardening and growing imaginable, from children’s gardens and sunflowers to hanging baskets, allotments, shop windows, business premises, private gardens and many others. We hope that entries will come in thick and fast again next year when the competition is launched in May.”
The competition winners were: Best play group/pre-school: Bright Stars; Best sunflower: Hayesdown First School; Young gardener: Lily Kelly; School/college: Selwood Academy and Frome College; Hotel/guest house: The George Hotel; Pub/cafe/restaurant: Frome Park Bowls Club; Large business: J.R. Harding & Sons; Small business: Clarkson’s Independent Funeral Directors; Hospital/community & retirement home: Phoenix House & Court; Private house frontage: Peter Holgate; Small front garden: Ian Murray; Large front garden: Ruth Baber; Front garden for all seasons: Mr I Ives; Small hidden garden: Paul Butler; Large hidden garden: S. Samuels; Hanging basket display: M Meaden and L Baber; Shop window display: Bonbon Chic; Whole garden inc. vegetables: Dave and Prue Moon; Best allotment: Boyce Johnson; Floral achievement by a disabled person: Jean Woodland; Natural or wildlife garden: Vallis First School.
