THE 37th annual Frome in Bloom competition starts this month and is looking for green-fingered people across the town to get their gardens looking blooming brilliant.
The competition, which started in the late 1970s, sees local gardeners judged in 27 categories ranging from best gardens to best local businesses, from best young gardener to the best sunflower.
Organiser Valerie Norvall said, “Frome in Bloom was originally set up to encourage people to take an interest in their gardens and in the local environment.
“Since those days the competition has gone from strength to strength and now boasts 27 different categories including children’s classes, schools, front and back gardens, gardens for less able people, vegetables and many more!
“It would be great to see plenty of new entries this year to make it the best ever.
“The grand finale will then be the awards presentation in September. Let’s make this a bumper ‘In Bloom’ year for everyone!”
Anyone in the town can enter the competition; more information and entry forms are available at Frome Library or by phoning 01373 467781.
The closing date for entries is Thursday 30th June and judging takes place during July.
