As part of the RSPB’s big garden bird watch, the 4th Frome Guides made food balls to take home to encourage more birds to the local area. The Big Garden Bird Watch ran from 25th-27th January, in a bid to count the birds in the nation’s gardens.
The Guides report, “The bird balls were made using vegetable suet along with dry ingredients such as bread sticks and cornflakes.
“The Guides had a lot of fun making the food balls for the birds, it only takes a little bit of effort this time of year that can really help give spring a kick-start and make the early mornings sound so much better.
“This also links to the Girlguiding promise where part of it pledges to help protect the world including the animals and people in it.
“If your daughter is interested in joining the Girl Guides, the unit meets every Friday (during term-time) from 7.15pm at Christchurch Hall.”
