A golf club in Frome has raised more than £90,000 for charitable causes since it began fundraising in 2010.
Orchardleigh Golf Club has held a series of events over the years, including competitions and raffles, in support of Dorothy House Hospice Care, as well as other charities such as Somerset Air Ambulance, Prostate Cancer UK and Diabetes UK.
Most recently, the club held a cup day, raising £3,000 for Dorothy House Hospice Care. The hospice provides personalised care to people in the community nearing the end of life. Club member Jim Worsley presented a cheque to Dorothy House fundraiser Katherine Bowhay and thanked sponsors and players for their support.
He said, “We are now well over £90,000, which has been down to the amazing support of the members who donate prizes and take part in the competitions. I also receive sponsorship from local businesses, particularly from our club owner Chris Vincent, Mindset Training and McAllisters Estate Agents, who have supported me every year.”
