FROME Selwood Bowls Club has been on winning form recently with a number of victories for both the men’s and women’s teams.
Frome Selwood Ladies had a good result away to Holt in a 2 rink triples friendly. Rink scores:- Margaret Reynolds, Jean Lemon, Kathy Kingman 19-9; Sandra Dowie, Angela Hill, Susan Simenton 13-8.
And Jean, Susan and Kathy also triumphed 23-7 in a county game at Victoria Park, Bristol.
In a league match at Prattens only 2 points were gained, Margaret, Sandra and Kathy winning 17-12.
Selwood men had mixed fortunes; at home to City of Wells in the M.S.L. they only collected 1 point thanks to Terry Joyce, Ken Matthews, David James and Steve Chant drawing 17 all.
However the following evening, away at Wells in the Club Two Fours, Selwood had their revenge when Wells conceded with the score at 44-23. Rink scores:- Brian Denness, Mike Geake, D. James, S. Chant 24-6; Dave Griffin, Graham Atkinson, Peter Simenton, Mike Mason 20-17.
Away to Bloomfield B in the S.C.L., Selwood picked up 10pts, winning 59-47. Rink scores:- D. Griffin, Bob Norris, Brian Lye, M. Mason 24-11; B. Denness, Joe Jones, G. Atkinson, S. Chant 21-16.
At home to Castle Cary in the M.S.L. the men gained 12 valuable points, 73-58. Winning rinks:- B. Denness, K. Matthews, D. James, S. Chant 25-10; T. Joyce, G. Atkinson, M. Geake, Brian Reed 21-16.
On Sunday 5th Selwood hosted the Somerset U25 Men’s Pairs.
