MeadowFest saw hundreds of people head to one of many residents’ favourite green spaces, Rodden Meadow, to take part in a free, family event on a hot and sunny afternoon.
The event took place on the last afternoon of the Frome Festival and celebrated the town’s great outdoors and much -loved river.
The event saw a non-stop smoothie bike marathon, with both little and bigger people enjoying using pedal power to make their own delicious drinks. There was also the much-anticipated annual Town V councillors tug-of-war which saw the Town take first place after a fiercely fought battle.
Mayor of Frome, cllr Mark Dorrington said, “MeadowFest brought lots of local residents and families together to have fun and learn more about this unique space right at the heart of our town. There was so much to do, from Frome Town Council’s DIY bug houses, to plenty of river dipping and playing in the water and, for the more adventurous, a composting toilet was available!”
MeadowFest was organised by Friends of the River Frome and supported by Frome Town Council. If you’re involved in a community organisation that would like to hold an event in one of our parks or open spaces, find out more by going to www.frometown council.gov.uk/holding-events-in-our-open-spaces/
