Community radio station Frome FM welcomes radio DJ and presenter Debra Richards to the schedule, with a new take on the European classic and contemporary jazz and electronic scene.
“I believe in the ability of musicians to change society positively, and in the importance of connecting with others who feel the same about music,” says Debra.
“My show looks at the wave of young musicians emerging across Europe who are mashing up digital and analogue, music genres and attitudes. Improvisation, beats, jazz, noise, classical, rock, Afro-beat and songwriting. This show connects to these scenes to bring you a fast hour of the most intriguing new music.”
As a female music journalist and promoter, Debra always includes women band leaders and producers making a name for themselves in her track choices.
You can hear Debra’s new show, ‘Match&Fuse’ on FromeFM 96.6 or online at http://frome.fm/match-and-fuse/.
• The weekly show for volunteering community, ‘All About Frome’ (Tuesdays, 12pm) is now transmitting a ‘major issue’ show every 4 weeks.
The first was about climate change and the next show, on air on November 5th looks at homelessness and the agencies and individuals trying to help, as well as hearing about the experience of being homeless from people living on the streets and in other homeless situations.
The show’s co-producer, Rupert Kirkham, said, “We have gathered together the main organisations in Frome with both voluntary and statutory concern for the plight of the homeless in this area. Many people are not recognised as being homeless – you don’t have to be living in the park under a cardboard box to be homeless, although tragically, there are people in this town finding it necessary to do just that. As winter approaches, the problem of homelessness will increase and it’s becoming more urgent to help people without homes.”
Frome FM hopes the All About Frome guests will give an insight into the many different situations that can cause people to become homeless and what we can do locally to help people cope. If you would like to contribute to the show in any way, please send an email to hello@frome.fm with ‘Homelessness’ in the subject .
