Guy Watts, an artist who has been based in Frome just over 10 years, will be taking his pen and ink work to town.
Guy has teamed up with Jude Kelly, owner of the La Strada Café. He said, “La Strada has really been my second home, regularly spending time absorbing the comings and goings of Fromes’ inhabitants.”
Guy will be exhibiting his latest works in the café from Friday 5th December through to the end of January. There will be a preview of his work between 4.00-6.00pm on the Friday upstairs in the art gallery where all are welcome. He will also be selling his latest range of distinctive black and white cards alongside unframed prints at the preview.
Guy added, “This ties in nicely to the Frome Independent market, so apart from the preview, I shall be in the Gallery on Saturday 6th December and an outdoor pitch by La Strada (weather depending) on Sunday 7th from 11.00am-4.00pm.” All works can be purchased on the day.
Guy decided that although the busy Independent market offers a wonderful opportunity for artists to display their latest creations, he felt as though the café location would be a bit more relaxed, with people popping into the La Strada during the Market day.
He added, “My work is highly intricate and takes a little time to absorb.
“Frome has been an amazing place to strike out as an artist which I did do back in 2007, I have been very fortunate in finding this special town back in 2003 after a period of working on the oil rigs.”
Guy now works full time on his meticulous pen and ink drawings and has had his work shown in the Royal West of England academy on several occasions. This month his work has also been selected for the Black Swan Open Art Exhibition.
His ideas are based on dreams, meditations and taking in the surrounding countryside either on foot or by bicycle. He can be contacted on 0784 5530572 or view his website at www.guywatts.co.uk
