FROME’S Toy Library has been saved from closure thanks to sponsorship from local businesses and donations from the community.
Toy library organisers, Purple Elephant, announced in October that they faced possible closure if a relatively small amount of money could not be found to save it. But thanks to new sponsorship from Cox & Cox, TSL IT Solutions, Dennis Maps, The College of Bowen Studies and primary sponsor Western Airducts, plus generous Localgiving donations, the Frome Toy Library lending and its stay-and-play services are both alive and well.
Organisers, Purple Elephant, have also introduced a free at-home delivery option and are delighted to announce the weekly Stay-and-Play session have now restarted (as of 3rd December).
Stay-and-play sessions run on a drop-in basis; numbers are limited to ensure social distancing. Open for Stay-and-Play as well as lending, families may take toys home or join the play session or do both.
Play sessions run 9.30-12noon on Thursdays (term time) at Vallis Community room, (suggested £1 donation). Adults need to wear a mask but full safety instructions for entry, distancing and sanitising will be explained on arrival.
All families are welcome to play sessions but will need to join as members in order to borrow toys. Full details for joining the Frome Toy Library (£10 or £20 only for a full year) plus a selection of toys and games can be found on website www.fromechildrensfestival.org/toy-library/
