MENDIP residents have already been seizing the opportunity to help shape the future of their local community by taking part in the district council’s public consultation sessions on the Local Plan Part Two.
Frome residents will have the opportunity to make their views known on the following dates:
Wednesday 14th October, 10am to 4pm, at the Cheese and Grain, Frome.
Thursday 29th October, 2pm to 8pm, at Nunney Village Hall.
Monday 2nd November, 5pm to 8pm, at Selwood School, Frome.
In the consultations carried out already in other areas, views have been put forward on a range of planning issues, from requests for more car parks to calls for the protection of green spaces.
Housing has been a particularly hot topic with calls for more affordable housing and starter homes, as well as plenty of ideas of where future housing in Wells and Shepton should go.
Maps have been displayed at the events showing land put forward by landowners for development, as well as green spaces currently under review in the district.
A total of 17 public consultation events are taking place across the district in the coming months and residents are urged to attend their local session to have their say.
Cllr Nigel Woollcombe-Adams, portfolio holder for health and wellbeing said, “Whilst the Local Plan Part One has been adopted and sets the overall level of development planned for the district, Part Two will determine exactly where that development should go and allocate sites for housing, employment and other community facilities.
“No decisions have been made at this point, so there is real opportunity for residents to influence where housing and community facilities should go in their towns and villages.”
All the documents and maps are available online on the website www.mendip.gov.uk/localplanpart2 and available to view in the council offices and access points (CAPS).
You can give the council your views by filling in the response form (available online or at the CAPS), emailing planning policy@mendip.gov.uk or speaking to representatives in person at any of the drop-in sessions.
